Not taken on a Saturday sky, Penguin, Tasmania

When I saw the town name of Penguin on the Tassie map, I just had to ask the Hubster if we could go and see what there was to be seen in Penguin. There are penguin tours conducted at sunset, but as  in mid-summer this means 9:30 - 10:00 pm, I knew it would be too late for our little tackers to stay up for.

We spent the night in Penguin on the waterfront overlooking Bass Strait, but what I didn't count on was the sunset we would  be privileged to see:

(These pictures are not enhanced in any way. I doubt I possess the technology and I know I don't possess the skills.)

Below, a rest stop at Lake St Clair. Oh what a difference World Heritage Listing makes to  the capital works budget! I'll explain below:

Behold, Cradle Mountain:

See the boardwalk that Tony is standing on? He tells me that it costs about $90 a meter. There were kilometers of boardwalk in Lake St Clair, Cradle Mountain and Freycinet NPs. Wow.Dsc01266

The tract of land you can see at the right is a narrow isthmus. Here is the sea on the other side. I think you are familiar with the characters in the photo

Mt Field and Douglas Apsley NPs were quite low key in their presentation compared to the "big" parks. Not that we minded. It just shows where the dollars go, that's all.

That's it for scenery shots for the moment. I have some saturday sky photos lined up for, umm, well, tomorrow. And there will be knitting after that. Yep, For sure.

the weekend

Firstly, we spent a lot of time in the car driving, driving, driving...

... and then we arrived here

it was gorgeous! I did end up walking and did better than I thought I would, but DS topped the class by walking about 4.5 klms on Saturday and then about another klm on Sunday. Boy did he sleep well in the car on the way home!

then driving, driving, driving, a long time to get home.

work yesterday.

(Yes, I do recall that this is supposed to be a knitting blog)

Knitting and housework today. More later!
