Blue

Blue for sky

and blue for mood. My mum left after her visit this morning. The older I get the harder it seems to say good bye. Also the harder it is to see her aging, little by little.

There has been knitting, though, hurrah!

Starfish from "Toys to Knit" by Tracy Chapman. Its a hit with the kids - pity it is going in the mail to Baby D on Monday!

I finally got back to Michele in "Hot Knits" by Melissa Leapman. I've had the yarn for almost a year, shame on me! And I'm starting with the sleeve to see how much yarn I have. A common theme with me - worrying about having enough yarn, it seems! My dear friend Bron sent me this yarn, and I am really really pleased with how the colours are knitting up together!

The next photo is crap for colour representation, but shows the stitch definition a little better:

I started a sock for the Hubster

and bought beads for the Secret of the Stole KAL
colour choice inspired by the charcoal cotton leftovers to the  left. Again, the colour representation is not the best, and my apologies.

Apologies also for the lack of words. Moping is pretty well the order of the day today.
But better luck tomorrow!

Cold snap Saturday

Last weekend, we had a cold snap, as I reported at the time. After that post, I took some photos at dusk, which showed a true Wintery sky. Being too lazy to post them that day, I saved them for you today.

As is often the case with a clear wintery sky, the stars were lovely and clear that night, but I didn't take any photos of those.

Saturday Sky

On a Saturday, no less!
It is showery and changable today, humid and this is about as blue as the sky is going to get today, methinks!

No mowing today, housework is moderately under control: you know what that means - KNITTING(YIPPEE!)
I'm in danger of having some progress to show you by tomorrow evening!

Saturday sky on a Sunday

Grey, wet, drizzly:
Dsc01671
Great knitting weather!
We have folks staying with us from Sydney this week and are taking some time out  to show them around.

My knitting is going through a frogging stage:

Ariann: the sleeves are too narrow - rip, rip. Can  anyone tell me what the sleeve width measurement at the top of the  sleeve, just where you join the sleeves to the main part of the body, is supposed to be?

Jaywalkers: something has gone awry here before the heel, more rip, rip
Laurel Hill, Jo Sharp pattern: something has also gone awry here. At least one row to rip rip

The two red socks for DD aged 2 are done, though! Yippee!

What's a girl to do but dream of casting on a pinwheel jacket for same DD?Dsc01670

I will be casting on from the DPNS and moving clockwise around the circle. Any words of wisdom before I start with this colour progression? A stashbuster is always a good idea...

Saturday sky a day early

Well, this is actually six days late, but never mind. The point is, I did think about the blog (as I have been doing consistently, despite the lack of posting) last Saturday. The Hubster says to me a couple of minutes after sunset "Hey come and look at the only cloud in the sky", I knew it was time to grab the camera.

And I was not disppointed:

It's amazing how often a cloud hovers over that one peak.

And you want proof it was last Saturday? How about the  moon as it was rising?
