So, we had 226 meters on the boards.
Add one and a half balls to finish Ariann - 170m
Add 335 meters for the Hubster's socks.
731 meters.
Aiming for 1609 meters by Feb 19th. 878 more meters of yarn. Time to cast on!
I will send a handmade gift to the first 3 people who leave a comment on my blog requesting to join this PIF exchange.
I don’t know what that gift will be yet and you may not receive it tomorrow or next week, but you will receive it within 365 days, that is my promise!
The only thing you have to do in return is pay it forward by making the same promise on your blog.
Thanks to Jess, where I was the lucky first person to comment.
Photos taken at night - maybe I'll get home during daylight hours tomorrow
I missed taking a picture of the tip last night:
Fiona raised an interesting point about knitting injuries this week. I have to confess that I have had tingling ring and pinkie fingers on each hand since being pregnant with Caitlyn, who is now aged now 2 and a half. I even got myself on the waiting list for surgery before discovering that it could in all probability be managed with massage and physiotherapy. But the funniest thing happened when I started working all the time. Although I still work with a computer all day long, because I dont get to knit anywhere near as much any more, (sniff!) I no longer suffer with the tingling and pains that I used to. (And I've taken myself off the surgery waiting list.)
Coincidence? I think not. The other thing is now, I am only prepared to knit things that I really really love. Like 2 ply lace weight...
Like the reversible rib shawl by Lily Chin published in the Vogue Knitting Winter 1999- 2000. Only problem is I don't have that issue (not surprisingly). It is just gorgeous, if you are in Ravelry, go and have a look. I think I could just about wing that pattern too - may take a few goes, but let's see what happens. I do think that a yarn with a halo will be important.
Now that almost all my old WIPs are finished, yarn shopping, anyone?
Sorry to be such a te@se yesterday
without a photo AT ALL! But I was so very tired...
Caitlyn halped me block by passing me th pins - she is getting so grown up: "me do it me- self!"
("No...")
I think that blocking maybe an artform - I ran out of bed!
I'll take some more photos in the daylight tomorrow. You haven't seen the back of this one just yet!
I'm doing pretty well on my WIP list - its still only September! ;O) Only 2 longstanding WIPS to go!
But now its time for a "quick" baby blankie:
And maybe another pair of socks...

I joined the Tour de France knitalong in June, but this is the first post!
There are still four stages to go, so I am not completely in disgrace! I should have chosen the maillot vert for a sprint to the finish!
I have chosen to knit up a long term WIP, and so, my choice is Icarus - a first shawl and first lace weight project.
I am now up to the end of Chart 3, so there are seulement trente rows avant le fin!
En puis, j'ai commence un project secret! Shhh!
C'est un cadeau!
Update: Chart 1 is finished! (Hey, its not a WIP being cast off but I can still mark the ocassion! It's been a while to get from cast on to here!)
Now to the next project in rotation...
Thanks Robbyn and Ailsa for the idea of rotating through projects. Thanks also to Bron for the fabbo Knitpicks needle!
BTW I found out today that Aussies can preorder their own Knitpicks needles from here. Run, don't walk, cause the pre-order is expected to sell out.
Can we have a little "YAY". I know. I'm a yay-er. Sue me ;)
Seeing how I am sick, and did not get any knitting done during the last few days, here are some new things in the knitting blogosphere which are new and good.
Firstly, a new yarn swap page, called Good Yarn Karma. It is the brainchild of Donni; and in her words,
"The premise is simple. Check your stash. You might have something that you know you won’t use. It may have been gifted to you with the best of intentions but it’s just not “you”.
If you want to donate - contact us for an invite to post on the blog. If you want us to post it if for you so that your Gifter won’t be offended if they stumble on the blog, let us know."
I can think of a couple of things sitting in my stash that really would be better off somewhere else where it may be used for something sooner rather than later. Pop on over and give it a look-see!
My second discovrey this week comes courtesy of Karen, a self confessed sufferer of Martha Stewart-itis and ditto her status as a confirmed sockaholic, a new podcast called Stash and Burn.
It is 2 friends talking about yours and my favourite subject, and they make you feel like you're the third friend sitting around the table having a cuppa; but just like you're the one whose really really Really Quiet...
One of them (I think it's Jenny, but it may be Nicole) has the best laugh; although if you're not a fan of "yay" as a conversational marker, this may not be the podcast for you. I think it makes them sound sweet, and actually quite like them for it.
I have listened to 1 and a half episodes so far, (listening to podcasts is quite difficult for me to actually accompish for reasons I will not bore you with now) and I will be heading back for more.
Go see, and tell me what you think!
It's like the title says, it's really not that bad. Although I am wondering how I will make it through to Friday afternoon, and a little more sleep at night would not go astray, we are all managing pretty well so far.
Staying one step ahead of the play is definitely the top game in town. So far, though, the house has not fallen down around our ears ;)
I have finished a little somethin somethin; but you will have to wait until tomorrow to see it!
In the meantime, there is always a little seaming party going on in the background these days:
And that yarn at the top of the picture is the sum total of the yarn I have left from 6 balls (neckband and some seams to go)...
A photo of today's sky, a day late; but anyways...
After 2 weeks of torrential, tropical rain, we have had hot hot sunshine from Thursday to Sunday, with only a little drizzly rain and a passing attempted thunderstorm this afternoon.
As tropical heat and rain means lots of garden growth, this weekend was spent in the garden, mowing, edging paths and trimming the bushes and shrubs. Plants, consider yourself attacked! (There is more, but this is supposed to be a knitting blog after all...)
I finished the Calmer socks for the Elderly Aunt whose feet need the socks more than I do!
There has been more sock activity and other knitting activity, but I'll have to show you another day because right now I have to go and cook some dinner; pack some lunches and do some ironing for "HIHO HIHO its off to work I go, on the morrow"
